Frances Beasley

I live in Mellis, Suffolk and work in my studio at home.
I studied at Manchester University where I gained a Joint BA Honours in English and History of Art and then qualified to teach with a PGCE awarded at Southampton University. I later furthered my Art training through Anglia University. Throughout my career I worked in secondary schools, for the majority of the time in Suffolk. Since I retired I have enjoyed concentrating on my own work and have continued my link with teaching by running the Art Group for Diss U3A.
I work with oils, watercolour, inks and oil pastels and latterly have branched out into lino printing and some textile work. My subject matter is based on observation of the natural world and reflects my love of abstract pattern coupled with bright colours and sometimes the written word. My sketchbooks and the photographs I take are the foundations for all my finished pieces.
I have exhibited in Bury St. Edmunds, Ware, Norwich, Harleston, Diss, Syleham Church, with Suffolk Open Studios and since its inception with Waveney Springs.
